2022-2023 SCHOOL YEAR

ELEMENTARY MUSIC TEACHER
The responsibilities of the elementary school Music Teacher are to establish, plan, develop and prepare learning objectives and provide clear and focused enrichment-oriented instruction for students; to promote student achievement; provide guidance, supervision, and discipline to students; and to assess and evaluate student performance and progress in the music program to enhance effective learning.
PROFFESIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree and a valid Washington State teaching certification with appropriate music endorsements required.
  • Genuine interest and knowledge and/or experience in teaching music at the elementary level and a music teaching experience/background preferred
  • Coordinate the music curriculum within the school program
  • Ability to communicate effectively using both English and Spanish preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of Washington State Essential Academic

Learning Objectives and the National Standards for Music Education

  • Knowledge and effective use of technology in the classroom
  • Good organizational and training skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in effective communication
  • Knowledge of effective instructional and behavioral techniques
  • Experience and ability to co-teach individual and small group ensembles
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships/collaboration with students, parents, staff, administrators, and the public
  • Demonstrated ability to plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom atmosphere to encourage and motivate students to learn essential skills, develop essential attitudes and experience successful learning
  • Demonstrated ability to guide the learning process toward the achievement of district curriculum and establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate, supervise, and conduct musical events as needed
  • Ability and willingness to accompany students as they perform in community events
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Salary & Benefits

  • The salary range is based upon the 2022-2023 salary schedule
