Job Description:

The School District of Milton is seeking a self-motivated and energetic individual to teach High School

Choir and Music courses. This position will have the opportunity to join a vocal music program with a very

strong history as part of an outstanding music department. The music program consists of two curricular

high school show choirs (Choralation – a 45 voice unisex varsity group and Octave Above – a 45 voice

female varsity group), a 40-member Concert Choir and a 25-member Chamber Singers Ensemble.

Additional program courses include Digital Music, Music Theatre and Music Theory, as well as a full slate

of Instrumental Music including competitive marching. The high school show choirs enjoy a strong

reputation and winning tradition and annually compete in Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, and other locations

across the Midwest from January through March. Beyond the school day, the music director will have the

opportunity to co-direct the annual school musical, in collaboration with the stage director and pit orchestra

director, assisting in the vocal preparations and some managerial/logistical tasks associated with the musical.

Qualifications:

The School District of Milton is seeking a passionate teacher who will engage students in the learning

process with the ability to develop connections with all students. This teacher must possess the leadership

and interpersonal skills to direct a show choir program that enjoys substantial parent, community and alumni

support. This will include working with a well-developed and supportive booster organization. Candidates

should be organized, flexible, and have strong communication skills. The successful candidate will

understand the value of working with students both inside and outside of the classroom. Excellent piano and

music arranging skills are a plus.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for WI DPI Certification in Choral Music – 1511 and have the

appropriate position code for 9th through 12th grade students.
