The Music Department is housed on the UWSP campus in the Noel Fine Arts Center, built in 2004. The department has 17 full-time and 6 part-time faculty. The department has a strong commitment to music education, with a full array of performing ensembles (bands, orchestras, choirs, operaworkshop, chamber music), and offers Masters of Music Education, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Music in music education, performance, and jazz studies. JOB DETAILS:

Position Summary

This full-time, tenure-track position will include teaching applied cello lessons, string techniques, and other classes as assigned by the department chair (including web-based courses). UWSP music is a thriving comprehensive music department including two orchestras, chamber music, and many opportunities for string students. The Fellowship will include arts advocacy for the central Wisconsin region. We are seeking a dynamic teacher that will recruit a diverse cello studio.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Music or ABD (to be completed within one year of initial appointment)
  • A strong cello performer and a proven teacher.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recognition and accomplishment as a cello performer at the national/ international level
  • Collegiate cello teaching
  • String Education

Terms of Employment

This is a tenure-track, academic year based faculty position. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This is a limited position, exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act. Limited appointees serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority and are subject to Chapter UWS 15, Wisconsin Administrative Code, Wisconsin Statutes, Sections. 36.17, and UW System UPG #3.
