About SPID Theatre
S.P.I.D. Theatre is a registered charity and theatre company based in the community rooms of the historic modernist social housing estate of Kensal House in West London. We work with young people on local social-housing estates across West London, creating community art and performance that is participatory, adventurous and interactive and centred around exploring the rich social and cultural heritage of social-housing in our area.

Job Role: Performance Project Youth Film Curator and Facilitator
You will be working with S.P.I.D Theatre Company on our Living History project, Estate Endz. You will facilitate workshops and then oversee the production of a performative film exhibition with a group of 13-25 year olds, edit the film the young people produce and help to ensure the project reaches its themes and community. This season’s programme explores memories under threat and social housing injustice.

Person Specification:

  • Experience of film-making and film-editing
  • Experience using a variety of media to create theatre (e.g. projection, light & sound, objects)
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Experience of working with community projects
  • Experience leading a production team including lighting, editing and sound designer
  • Creative flair and ability to problem-solve
  • Ability to work with budgets
  • Confidence with technical production
  • Enthusiasm and passion
  • Proven reliability, commitment and ability to get the job done
  • Performative skills

Time Commitment:
Session commitments 11:00-18:00

  • Session 3 – 02/04/22
  • Session 4 – 07/04/22
  • Session 5 – 08/04/22
  • Session 6 – 09/04/22
  • Session 7 – 23/04/22
  • Session 8 – 30/04/22
  • Session 9 – 07/05/22
  • Session 10 – 14/05/22
  • Session 11 – 21/05/22
  • Session 12 – 28/05/22

Production Meetings: 21/04, 28/04, 05/05, 12/05, 19/05 & 26/05
Production Meeting Commitments: 1hour 17:30-18:30
Feedback Session: 02/06/2022 – 1Hour

Please note that applicants must be available for all dates and times listed.

Fee: £2,050.00
Fee includes all work for the project outside of session times.

Contract: Freelance contract (applicants must arrange their own tax/NI)
