You’d have the autonomy to build a three-performance concert season with a focus on finding diverse, inclusive, non-white-dead- men composers. The concert band has a long history of providing good musical presentations along with some form of audience “wow” engagement. Godzilla Eats Las Vegas by Whitacre, Alex Shapiro’s Lights Out, and Foundry by John Mackey were a few pieces that surprised and delighted our attendees. Foundry required the construction of four new, never been created, metal and aluminum percussion instruments. Our Movement for Rosa by Mark Camphouse featured a slide presentation depicting the life of civil rights icon Rosa Parks which was very moving for our audience and for members. Our last in person concert was titled “Let’s Play.” The multi-media, audience engagement, multi-faceted presentation was complete with problem solving clues throughout the concert. The event culminated with a member in the audience “solving the “Let’s Play” puzzle” and winning the grand prize. If creative programming and out-of-the-box thinking is your jam, keep reading. We focus our efforts on providing a welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ and allied artists, strengthening individual and ensemble performance skills, and supporting the greater LGBTQIA+ community throughout the Pacific Northwest in the fight for equality, acceptance, and justice. These objectives continue to serve as the foundation of the organization’s vision and mission.
