Audio Visual Installation Engineer – Reading

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with premium installer of audio-visual solutions into live event spaces, based in Reading. Our client installs permanent AV solutions into churches, theatres, concert venues, schools and arts centres. This is a very hands-on role and the successful candidate will be installing the latest in AV equipment in many different venues every year. If you have a passion for technology, have a desire to work with power tools, and are looking to broaden your technical knowledge of AV installations then this role will suit you.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Installation of AV systems to the highest standards including

– 1st fix works – installing containment, cable pull and structural fixings etc.

– 2nd fix install of equipment, patching and configuration

– Handover checks & assist with commissioning

  • Work collaboratively with other members of the install team to achieve deadlines together and of consistent quality.
  • Interpret and follow technical and construction drawings
  • Preparing equipment and other parts for the next installation
  • Work in venues around the UK, potentially spending multiple days away as the work dictates
  • Follow and maintain housekeeping standards onsite and at the warehouse
  • Carrying out maintenance visits (planned and reactive) to fault-find and undertake repairs
  • Assist in improving efficiency and project delivery by ensuring processes and good working practices are maintained
  • Respond to requests from team members efficiently and effectively
  • Attend team briefings and be proactive in providing ideas and suggestions
  • Report progress and issues to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager to ensure the team meets the projects goals
  • Providing feedback and support to the Project Manager following completion of an installation, including help with commissioning or snagging
  • Work cooperatively with other trades on sites and be adaptable to fit in with the main schedule
  • Comply with the company’s Health and Safety policy
  • Attend third-party training as appropriate for the role, (such as, PASMA, IPAF, ECS, asbestos awareness, working at height, etc.)

Skills & Experience:

  • Comfortable using hand and power tools
  • Full Driving licence
  • Good general knowledge of building materials and appropriate fixings
  • An awareness of the different forms of cable containment and Unistrut (desirable)
  • Good cable terminations skills, e.g. soldering, crimping of Cat5/6 and coaxial cables (BNC), etc
  • Experience of working with fibre-optic cable (desirable)
  • Knowledge of industry standard audio, video and lighting systems
  • Able to perform manual handling and use appropriate lifting aids for moving heavy items
  • Experience of working as an engineer within the events industry or experience of installing AV equipment (desirable)
  • IPAF, PASMA, ECS / CSCS qualifications (desirable)
  • Familiar with the needs and sensitivities of Places of Worship or listed buildings
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft O365 applications.

Hours:

  • Full time (contracted to 40 hours per week) Monday to Friday.
  • Typically, 12-15 working days per month are spent on-site where usual working hours are 6am-6pm including travel to/from.
  • Warehouse days are 9-5.30pm in-line with our normal office hours.
  • Occasionally work is required outside of these hours

Holiday:

  • 28 days (including Bank Holidays)
