Position:                                  Assistant Professor of Saxophone

Greenwood School of Music, Oklahoma State University

                                                      Stillwater, Oklahoma

Responsibilities: The Greenwood School of Music seeks a qualified saxophonist to build and sustain a successful saxophone studio and play an active role in the recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate saxophone majors, as well as collaborate with colleagues in the advancement of the woodwind area. The candidate will be expected to teach applied lessons in saxophone including a weekly studio class, as well as coach chamber groups (e.g., saxophone quartets, saxophone choir). The teaching assignment will also include the saxophone portion of the single reed techniques course. The successful candidate will rehearse weekly and perform as saxophonist with Bluestem Blaze, a flexible ensemble that includes participation in the faculty woodwind quintet (horn part). Additionally, the candidate is expected to engage in service to the unit and their profession, to be productive as an artist/scholar, and to promote an inclusive workplace and learning environment.

Qualifications:   Master’s degree and applied teaching experience at the university level required. Doctorate or equivalent professional experience preferred. Experience in woodwind chamber music performance desired.

Rank and Salary:   Tenure-Track Assistant Professor.  Salary with benefits commensurate with qualifications.

Beginning date:  August 2024

The Greenwood School of Music has thirty-six full-time and thirteen part-time faculty members and is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music.
