The Department of Music at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track assistant
professor in Music (theory and jazz), starting August 2023. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence at the
undergraduate level. Teaching opportunities will include theory, aural skills, jazz band/jazz combos that explore a diverse set of musics,
and general education. The expectation is for in-person, on-campus teaching and active involvement in the recruitment and retention of
Doctorate in Music or closely related field from an accredited
Experience rehearsing and directing a jazz big band;
Ability to bring a diversity of perspectives to the music
Evidence of teaching effectiveness in music theory;
An established scholarly research or creative activities
Ability to work with a diverse student population.
teaching theory at the college level; Preference will be given to candidates with improvisation teaching experience and
experience; Experience teaching courses online.
